These salmon patties are quick, easy, and healthy too. This is a family staple for us and one we enjoy. I have been known to double the recipe and keep extras in the refrigerator for a quick lunch. The canned salmon I prefer is sustainable and “wild caught”. I buy these at Costco and always have several cans in my pantry. Also, I use almond flour instead of regular flour to keep them a low-carb meal. Flour can be substituted; even defrosted frozen shredded hash browns or crushed pork rinds work as a filler.
Served alongside a slice of lemon, sliced tomatoes, a nice green vegetable, or a salad makes this a wonderful meal.
For A Quick Weekday Meal, Nothing Beats These Salmon Patties
Salmon patties are kinda like salmon burgers, with plenty of wonderful seasonings along with egg and a filler (I am using almond flour in this recipe to keep it keto-friendly).
NOTE: canned salmon is already cooked.
Quick and Easy Salmon Patties Recipe
Ingredient List
- Yellow onion: 2 tbsp- Chopped very fine or grated
- Canned Salmon 12 oz. (preferably sustainable Wild-Caught without bones)
- Eggs: 1 large
- Mayonnaise: 1 cup
- Almond flour: 3/4 cup
- Italian seasoning: 3/4 tsp
- Smoked paprika: 1/2 tsp
- Sea Salt: 1 tsp
- Black Pepper: 1/4 tsp.
- Olive oil; 3 tbsp
Instructions
- In a medium bowl, combine all ingredients except for the olive oil. Mix only until combined, don’t over-mix.
- With your hands, form the mixture into patties about 1/2 inch thick and place on a parchment paper-lined baking sheet. NOTE: Patties will feel wet and sticky. Refrigerate for 30 minutes to firm up.
- Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the salmon patties to the skillet so they do not touch each other. Cook for 3-4 minutes until a golden brown on the bottom. Flip and cook another 3-4 minutes on the other side.
Tips
Serve Hot
Top off a fried egg with a salmon patty for a little extra protein.
Salmon Patties make a great burger on a bun.
Refrigerate leftovers to rewarm for another meal.
What To Serve AlongSide
While the Salmon Patties taste delicious alone, have a Keto Hollandaise sauce (Primal Kitchen is the one I like), a hot sauce, or even a spicy mustard on the table for use if someone wants to use one.
A green vegetable or a salad also goes well with this. I like to serve sliced tomatoes alongside. Then, if you are not watching your carbs you could have a side of rice, potatoes, or a biscuit.
Try my Korean Cucumber Salad recipe for a great side dish.
Suggested Wine Pairings
Generally speaking, a full-bodied white wine would do the trick. A rich, oily fish like salmon pairs beautifully with an oak-aged Chardonnay, Viognier, and a White Pinot Noir. With these Salmon Patties a nice Rose’ would also pair well.
I keep a selection of wines in my little wine refrigerator, one I love is our Club’s More Than Muse Chardonnay. Chardonnay wine has always been my favorite and this one does not disappoint.
