The great news is that network marketing is available to everyone and anyone can learn the skills to be successful. However, as I mentioned above, I am not going to sugarcoat this opportunity. Because not everyone will become successful or even should for that matter. I have seen people get into network marketing and treat it as a hobby and not a real business. While that is fine, but don’t expect to be earning $10,000 or more a month if you are not willing to put in the time and effort.
Here are six things I believe are important when considering joining a Network Marketing Company (for weight loss or any other product or service):
- Will it fit into your schedule?
How much time is needed to do all the things needed to become successful? Does it align with your goals? Will you continue to work full-time or part-time while growing this business? It will take a little extra work in the beginning, but it IS worth it! - What is the compensation plan?
Are you considering a network marketing career for financial benefit? That’s one of the main reasons anyone gets into this! However, you need to be realistic about this. I recommend two things: 1) Research the compensation plan, and 2) Ask, ask, ask! Ask friends who sell what they make, even a range, and be totally honest about being in the research phase. Having a thorough understanding of how much you can make and how to make it will set you up for success from the beginning. - What support is provided?
What training is available? Is there 1:1 mentorship, tools, training guides, product brochures, and online or in-person meetings? How long is the support available? Who would you be working with? - What are the requirements?
Do you need to carry an inventory? What are the sales requirements or how do you achieve the various ranks in the company? Is there an initial investment and is there a monthly order requirement? Thoroughly understand the minimum requirements. Remember, only YOU get to decide if this is something you can do! - Does it serve a larger purpose?
I believe that a larger purpose is key to continuing to push past limiting beliefs and minor setbacks. As we grow our teams in Network Marketing, we find others with the same passion as us. There is nothing more rewarding when one, or more, of your team members, makes rank advancement and even surpasses you in their own sales growth. As your team grows, they improve their own lives and those of others. It may be hard to find, but look for a company that has a larger, more important purpose at heart! - What are the growth opportunities?
When I first joined my Network Marketing program (for health and wellness, including weight loss) it was, largely, a financial choice. I joined at the highest level but did not realize there were other rank advancements available to me.
